Ministries for All Ages and Needs

We love to see people better connect with our church, our congregation and our God. This happens when you find your own special place to serve the Lord and make a difference in the lives of others. Ministries offer you a unique way to be more involved and better serve.

Crievewood Baptist offers a number of exciting ministries that span all ages and multiple interests. Click on any ministry title to learn more.

Preschool & Children

The Preschool and Children’s Ministry at Crievewood strives to offer many meaningful and joyful experiences for children birth through grade six. We want to partner with parents in providing activities that will help lay biblical foundations for Christian conversion. Through our various activities, we hope to show how God’s word helps children in their daily lives.

Your Child's Walk With Christ

At CBC, we love having your children in our program and on our campus, but the primary place where live-changing discipleship happens is in the home. Parents are the primary role model of faith in each child's life. We know navigating the journey of faith is challenging and helping a child along this journey is not an easy task. To assist you along the journey our team has outlined the major points of emphasis that build upon one another as your child grows in his or her faith.

  1. Parent Dedication
  2. Prayer
  3. Family Time
  4. Life with Christ
  5. Bible
  6. Worship
  7. Giving & Serving
  8. Maturity
  9. Lifelong Disciple

Students

Training the Next Generation of Disciple-Makers

In what is quickly becoming a post-Christian culture, today's teens can easily fall into a "Sunday Christian" faith, or walk away from faith completely. As teens grow up, they find that their simple Sunday school answers don't hold up to the "real-world" circumstances they find themselves in. There must be a firmer grasp of the faith that continues to grow with them; one that is robust enough to overcome these challenges.

At Crievewood Baptist Church, we strive to see every youth grow into an intentionally maturing disciple of Jesus. On Wednesday evenings, our program is geared towards reaching those who have had little-to-no exposure to the Gospel. We share a meal together, spend time in worship, and participate in a 20-minute lesson. Wednesday programming post-pandemic will begin September of 2021. On Sunday mornings, we spend an hour together engaging in spiritual disciplines, studying Scripture, and sharpening one another.

Everyone from 7th grade through 12th grade is welcome to be a part of our Student Ministry.

Worship Arts

The Worship Arts Ministry of Crievewood Baptist Church offers opportunities for the development and expression of the musical abilities of individuals and groups in an affirming and supporting church family environment. Opportunities range from age-graded musical organizations for children, youth, and adults through many types of congregational involvement.

Music making is expressed through singing, handbells, orchestral and other instruments. We believe that the discipline of making music is spiritually enriching for both the performer and the listener.

You are invited to come and be an active part of our music ministry. If you would like further information and rehearsal schedules, please call the church office at (615) 832-5968.

Adult Discipleship

Sunday School Classes — Building Biblical Knowledge and Community

We believe that the Bible is best lived out through Biblical Community. Through our on-campus Sunday School Classes and various group studies throughout the week, we hope that you will not only find a strong understanding of the Bible, but are able to live it out through community.

Senior Adult Ministry (VIPs) — Living Your Most Enriching Years

The Crievewood Baptist family has always held a special place in our hearts for maturing adults. Not only do our seniors share their vast experiences, they are among the most involved in our church.

Through our Senior Adult Ministry (better known as the VIPs), we present a new vision of aging. One that lifts them up and accents their wisdom and strength. One that focuses on the positive purpose of later life. One that seamlessly connects them with God’s abundant grace.

The Crievewood VIPs meet the second Friday of every month at 11:30 a.m. in our Fellowship Hall. A Potluck Lunch is served followed by entertainment. All seniors are welcome to attend.

The VIPs also go on several fun and entertaining day trips throughout the year.

Missions

Crievewood Baptist Church is a church that has a long history of mission involvement locally, nationally and internationally. Click here to view for a PDF of our mission partners and endeavors. We have organizations for many ages to be involved in missions:

The Scriptural Purpose of Crievewood Baptist Church's Involvement in Missions

  1. To fulfill the Great Commission of Christ (Matt. 28:18-20).
  2. To share Christ's heart for the world (Matt. 9:36-38; Gal. 6:9-10).
  3. To see people saved and brought to the knowledge of God (John 3:16; Acts 1:8; Romans 10: 13-15).
  4. To build up the body of Christ through discipling (Eph. 4:12-16).
  5. To minister to the totality of human need (Matt. 22:37-39; Gal. 6:9-10).

The Definition of Missions

Missions at Crievewood Baptist Church shall be defined as ministry which fulfills the Great Commission by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ cross-culturally through evangelism, discipleship, Bible translation, church planting and church leadership development, giving priority to those who have not been reached with the gospel. We recognize the importance of meeting physical and educational needs when this serves the growth of the gospel.

The Context of Missions

MISSIONS is a part of the Church’s total MISSION.

MISSION describes who the Church is and what the Church does to advance Christ’s kingdom for his glory. MISSIONS describes the Church’s activity to advance Christ’s kingdom across language and/or ethnic boundaries. This ministry among peoples of distinctly different cultures and languages is CROSS-CULTURAL and is the particular focus of the Global Missions Ministry Team.

As part of the Church’s activities, the Church also seeks to advance Christ’s kingdom within our own culture. While there are many committees and ministry teams at Crievewood Baptist Church that help it reach people with the gospel within our culture (e.g., Evangelism, Culture Impact, Christian Education, etc.), the Global Missions Ministry Team helps Crievewood Baptist Church reach people with the gospel beyond our culture and thus fulfill God’s mission to bring glory to himself by redeeming a nucleus of believers from every distinct language and cultural group on earth.

Women on Mission & Women's Missionary Union meets at various times during the year.

Neighbor

According to Jesus, one of the two greatest commandments is to love our neighbor as ourselves. Loving our neighbor means we seek the good and flourishing life for our neighbors. Since Creivewood is planted in the heart of Crieve Hall Neighborhood, we believe that this is where we start learning and practicing loving our neighbor.

We seek to love our neighbor through:

Pencil Partnership with Crieve Hall Elementary

Laotian Ministry

Crievewood Baptist Laotian Ministry is a Laotian congregation that is an integral part of our church body. They host a Laotian-speaking worship service on Sundays at 10:45 a.m., as well as other gatherings throughout the week. Our Laotian congregation is also heavily involved in global missions and spreading the Gospel to others in the Nashville area and in Southeast Asia.
